Sinergi Perdana Inks MoU With Diversatech

PUTRAJAYA, May 9, 2011 (Bernama) -- Sinergi Perdana Sdn Bhd, a consortium comprising Felda, Felcra and Risda, Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Diversatech (M)Sdn Bhd to raise their agriculture input efficiency especially in the fertilizer industry.

The collaboration will involve production, marketing as well as research and development activities with focus on the use of the controlled-release fertilizer and slow-release fertilizer produced by Diversatech.

Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal witnessed the signing of the MoU here today where Sinergi Perdana was represented by its Chief Executive Officer Mohd Zain Abdul Jalil and Diversatech by its President, Syed Osman Syed Rastan Al-Haj.

The MoU is Sinergi Perdana's maiden initiative since its establishment in June 2010 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to enable the three agencies to work together and explore various commercial ventures within and out of the country.

Mohd Shafie in his speech expressed hope that the MoU would become a platform for Sinergi Perdana to venture further into agriculture related business activities and become a catalyst in improving existing businesses run by both the government owned and private companies.

The move is also expected to have spillover effects on the target groups to raise their level of income, he said.

"I also wish to see Sinergi Perdana venture into amongst others the supply of high quality agriculture input such as seedlings and fertilizers as well as in the coconut and rubber based downstream activities, bio-organic fertilizers and food products as the agriculture industry is highly competitive," he said.

The Chairman of Sinergi Perdana, Datuk Abdul Jabar Che Nai, meanwhile said he was confident that the products of Diversatech were of high quality and had the potential for expansion both in the local and overseas markets.

"The controlled-release fertilizer will be able to reduce the use of fertilizers and directly reduce the cost of fertilization for oil palm and rubber. Apart from that, the formulation in this fertilizer for the control of Ganoderma and fungus has been patented," he said.
